Lisa and Anne-Marie are a breath of fresh air. I had the privilege of being part of their surprise engagement a while back and have been looking forward to recording their wedding ever since! It was a very DIY affair and this rustic Chesapeake wedding was held at the perfect venue: one of their good friend’s back yard.
One thing that stood out to me throughout the day leading up to the big ceremony was that neither Lisa nor Anne-Marie were bugging out or getting visibly stressed. I remember when I asked Lisa about it that she said that since both of them are yogis that they have both learned to focus on what matters and not to sweat the small stuff. It was really beautiful to be a part of such a day filled with serenity and truth.
There was no room for pretentiousness at this wedding. It was all about celebrating two people and their commitment to eachother. It was an entirely human focused event. Guests brought their favorite dishes, desserts, and libations to contribute to the party. Guests smiled, joked, danced, ate, and truly celebrated not just the fellowship but the union of Lisa and Anne-Marie.
Lots of elements throughout the day really made me smile. I especially enjoyed the idea of having wine bottles as your guestbook. Guests signed these bottles with a note and their name to give the newlyweds a sendoff and a note to read when they pop the cork over dinner, laughs with friends, or after a long week.
The custom cake topper was also a very unique touch. The same-sex dia de los muertos bride figurines were a perfect touch and really reflected the uniqueness of Lisa and Anne-Marie.
Crash (aka Crashy) came along for the day to witness her moms celebrate. She looked perfect with her pink tulle bow! She also guarded Lisa’s wedding gown!
